twin bed quilt top - done!
Saturday, March 20, 2010
My latest headache, I mean, project!
I'm using scraps from my Indigos Around quilt to make a twin-sized bed quilt for the guest room. Because of the size of the scraps, I had to go with 4" cut squares. I knew I wanted it to have some sort of "pattern" to it and it's coming along pretty well. But it's tough to fit all the rows on even the king-sized bed in the basement! I have to cut some more squares now that I know where it needs to be filled in. This is my largest quilt yet, and I've already got a king-sized one in the planning stages. I need a design wall. Pronto.

My first handbag
Here is my first handbag and it really went together very quickly and easily. I used AJ's "Charming Handbag" tutorial on Moda Bakeshop, but decided to use solid pieces of fabric instead of piecing it since I needed it done fast. I still need to get the insert for the bottom so it will hold its shape, but otherwise it is done.

puzzle quilting design!
I bought a new pantograph to use on my quilts, and I just LOVE it! I was using a stippling/meandering pattern, but it was much more time consuming and I had to change the bobbin way too often. This was easy and I finished the whole quilt top in an afternoon. One down, three to go!

Disappearing 9 patch
This is another Christmas gift. This was done with a dozen 9 patch blocks which were cut down the middles and turned to form new blocks. I put the light blue sashing in to break it up a little - these fabrics are pretty "busy" - but I like the overall look now.
